Assessment design is a skill. This program builds it specifically for judgement-based tasks like projects, performances, and portfolios.
Judgement-based assessment tasks are among the most powerful tools teachers have for understanding what students know and can do. They enable support and feedback throughout a developmental process. They help to build self-regulated learning skills and develop higher order thinking. Designing them well requires a clear understanding of the skills and knowledge being assessed, how to observe and evaluate student work consistently, and ensuring the task is genuinely fit for purpose.
This TQI-accredited program builds that capability across your school, developing the assessment design skills of your teaching staff and the leadership capacity of your curriculum leaders to embed and sustain high-quality assessment practice.

Who is this for?
This program is designed for schools, universities, and other education organisations whose staff are working with projects, performances, portfolios, or other judgement-based assessment tasks. It suits whole-staff delivery or leadership-focused cohorts, and is adaptable across primary, secondary, and higher education contexts.
The Program
Ongoing Support
The program is delivered across two interconnected stages:
Stage 1 — Effective Assessment Design
A full-day, bespoke workshop for teaching staff, designed around your specific curriculum context and assessment challenges.
Stage 2 — Leading Effective Assessment Design
Four 60-minute online workshops for curriculum leaders, working through a structured improvement cycle to embed and sustain assessment design practice across your organisation.
Between sessions, participants have access to Dr Richardson for questions and support as they implement new practices.
Duration
The program typically runs over one semester. Condensed delivery is available for organisations with specific timeline requirements.
Investment
Full-day professional learning starts from $7,000.
